The Book Thing has been experiencing a wave of "dissertation dumps.

The Book Thing has been experiencing a wave of "dissertation dumps."  This phenomenon occurs when someone has completed their dissertation, Masters or PhD, and never wants to see a book on the subject ever again.  These dissertations are destined to be published as books with titles such as, Pre-Columbian Sturgeon Hooks of the Square-pants Tribe.

We survived the earthquake and hurricane in one slightly damp piece.  Is Mother Nature trying to tell us something with the majority of leaks over politics and business?

This Saturday - Waverly Library

Hey Russell. I don't know if you had a chance to read Christophe's letter he droppped off two weeks back. We're having an event from 11-4 this Saturday at the Waverly Library and we could use as many poetry books to give away as possible. This could also be an opportunity to promote the book thing, too. Please let me know if you can provide any poetry books. Thank you.

Poets for Change

Russell: We did, indeed. We have been visiting the past few weeks and have taken many of the poetry books. Thanks to you and your staff for restocking the poetry shelves. We had a great event at the Waverly Library and gave away dozens and dozens of free books as part of the 100K Poets for Change event. We hope to have more events like that at the Library and elsewhere in the community, and we definitely will continue to send folks your way for free books, and gather poetry books from your selection for our events. The Book Thing is a very important part of the local community and we appreciate you sharing and giving.
